Set Up Your KU Online ID
If you haven't already done so, please Set Up Your KU Online ID and Password.
Your KU Online ID and password are your keys to most of KU's online services including: KU email, Blackboard, Enroll & Pay, myKU Portal and many more. Passwords may be changed at any time, but all users must change their password every 210 days. KU IT strongly recommends that you do not share your KU Online ID password with anyone, including parents and guardians.
Check Out Free & Discounted Software
Microsoft Office is available to students* for FREE through Office 365 as part of KU's myCommunity online collaboration service. Other software is available to students through the KU Software Webstore. Visit Software for a complete list of software products available to KU students via download or campus computer labs.
Check Your Tech
If you already have a computer, to meet basic security, networking, and upgrade requirements, it should be running Windows 7 (or later) or Mac OS X (or later). If you need to upgrade to meet basic requirements, see "Check Out Free & Discounted Software" above. Ideally, your computer's warranty should be supported by the manufacturer throughout your college career.
Some departments or schools may require that your computer have additional features to support work in their programs. Check Recommended Technology by School for current information or visit the KU Tech Shop.
Consider New Technology
Providing general advice or recommendations for student computers is difficult, as needs vary widely, on both school and personal use by the student. The Tech Shop at the KU Bookstores in the Kansas Union has knowledgeable staff who collaborate with campus departments to recommend technology for students’ specific needs at KU and beyond.
The Tech Shop offers Apple, Dell, and HP computer, software, and accessory products, along with academic and KU-custom prices only available at there. The Tech Shop’s certified service and repair department provides quality and affordable service of various brands, including Apple and Dell.
Do You Need to Set Up Delegate Access?
Delegate Access is the system that the University of Kansas uses to authorize third party access to an individual student record. Students can choose to designate a delegate to view information on their account in Enroll & Pay. This access can be granted or revoked at any time. Delegate access replaces authorized user access and the authorization to release information form. Learn more at KU Registrar: Delegate Access
